Beginning with the beginning is hard. To know exactly when my Kate fettish began please read the ‘Why Kate’ page listed on the left. I read the first post on what was supposedly the ‘official’ Kate Winslet site by a Janalynn in December of 1998. She was posting about her Kate Winslet site, Winslet Whispers. Winslet Whispers was way ahead of the times with a great whispers section contatining news and photos. I had been wanting to have my own site for some time, but found Winslet Whispers to be a wonderful site that I could contribute to. I wrote Janalynn, the webmistress, and asked her if I could come on board. Soon a trust was developed and she was happy to have me! I had already begun work on organizing the many Kate Winslet photos I had collected in the previous year. They were close to being a gallery at that time and soon became the Winslet Whispers’ photo gallery. A little while later I was ready to test out my wings and openned Discover Kate on Geocities as the Sister Site of Winslet Whispers, on April 15, 1999. Discover Kate consisted mainly of fun fan items upon it’s openning, the gallery being the largest part of the site, followed by a Fansite Combats, a Spotlight section, and links. The site was updated on a monthly basis, that was considered a fairly good amount of time between updates at the time. We eventually outgrew Geocities little by little, because of the amount of space required for storing so many Kate Winslet pictures. We moved from Geocities to Xoom and we began reporting daily news in September of 1999. The site’s first scoop was photos of Kate at the Venice Film Festival in 1999. Xoom managed to "accidentally" delete Discover Kate in late 2000 and Crossfire was a temporary home, but very unreliable. Due to these factors my greatest wish became my own hosting and domain, something that was granted unto me as a birthday gift by my hear husband in October of 2000. Dk has changed homes a few times since, the latest move being in May of 2005 to a dedicated server of our very own. It is a bit more pricey, but we’re happy to share it with CateBlanchett.net and happy to finally have control over the site. – Ruth, written in 2001, added upon in 2005
